Cordele Intermodal Runs Inaugural Train!

Cordele Intermodal Services, Inc. is pleased to announce that we ran our first intermodal train on December 1st, 2011!  After years of hard work, by numerous entities, the big idea is now a reality.  The train ran flawlessly from Savannah to our intermodal facility in Cordele and kept a perfect schedule along its route.  After arrival in Cordele, the empties were lifted onto chassis' and made their way to the customers facility for loading.  All loaded containers were back at the CIS facility the same day and the train departed Thursday night on its way to the Georgia Ports Authority in Garden City.  The day was a tremendous success for everyone involved.  This first train marks the start of regular rail service to Savannah.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to CSXT, Genesee & Wyoming, Heart of Georgia, Union Compress Warehouse, Hapag Lloyd and the Georgia Ports Authority for making this inaugural train the success that it was.  We are extremely pleased to have such a wonderful set of partners in this endeavour and look forward to our very bright future together.

For those that have signed up for our newsletter and haven't visited our website in a while, we invite you to come back and see some of the changes that we have made in the past few months.  In addition to our rail-dray service, we have added truck brokerage and other specialty services to our menu of offerings.  We are committed to finding creative ways of adding value to our customers supply chains.  We have also published our fuel surcharge table and established our service area map so that prospective customers can learn more about what we are and where we go.

We continue to receive tremendous interest from individuals seeking employment with our company.  At this time we do not have any job openings other than the one listed under our employment tab.  CIS is seeking another experienced truck broker to bring in-house.  All qualified applicants can submit resumes to info@cordeleintermodal.com.   

Cordele Intermodal Services looks forward to being a part of the Cordele community for many years to come.  The completion of our facility has created tremendous buzz for Cordele and the surrounding areas.  Several new businesses have already made their way to Cordele and, just as exciting, several local businesses have made expansion plans and are hiring new employees.  Our strategic vision for Cordele is to make it the next transportation hub in the southeast.  To that end, we have engaged several local transportation providers that are involved in many aspects of transportation including, but not limited to: warehousing, cross-dock, materials handling, trucking and rail.  We recognize that we can bring more value to the table if we have supporting companies that offer ancillary services that shippers need.  CIS would like to invite all prospective clients to give us a call to see how we can save your company money and refine any logistics-related processes.  We are a regional company that works in a global environment.
